Vintage Scene - Mac Info

Vintage Scene quickly and easily creates compelling photos for graphic artists, photographers, & hobbyists. This unique algorithm automatically combines several classic effects: sepia tone, grain, darkened edges, distressed paper, along with the look of fade that with time has left behind an image with only bright blacks and darkening whites. Vintage Scene is easy to use but gives the user control to change each component for a unique look on each photo.

Get Photo or Drag & Drop Photo

The interface for Mac is very simple. Once you have launched the app click on the camera icon to "Get Photo" - a standard dialog window will come up - use this to navigate to the place you store your pictures on your computer. The easiest way to open a photo is to first open your picture folder then drag and drop the images on to Vintage Scene.

Top Bar Buttons

Get Photo: Loads a photo from your desktop or hard drive.

Save Photo: Saves the image to your desktop or hard drive.

Save Preset: Once you've created an effect you can use this option to save all the attributes and reuse them on another picture.

Random Button: Randomizes the effect on the image.

Original Button: Hold down to view the original image for a quick comparison.

File Menu

Get Photo: Loads a photo from your desktop or hard drive.

Save Photo: Saves the image to your desktop or hard drive.

Save Preset: Once you've created an effect you can use this option to save all the attributes and reuse them on another picture.

Edit Menu

Undo: Undo your last edit.

Redo: Redo your last edit that was undone.

Adjust

The attributes of any preset can be adjusted to give you a customized look. To bring up the controls select one of the three Adjustment tabs to adjust your image; Adjust, Overlay and Border.

Normal/ Textured

Choosing Textured allows more texture to be seen through the image. Only available when an Antique Photo Preset is selected.

Image Age

With this slider you can change the aging effect of your photo. Moving the slider right will add more color tone to your photo. To pick a custom color click the color box to the right of the slider.

Paper Age

Moving this slider right changes the aging effect on the overlay and border. Use the color box to pick a custom age color. Only available when using Antique Photo or Faded Time

Fade Out

Fade Out blends the texture in a vignette fashion around your photo. Moving the slider right decreases the vignette amount to allow more of the photo to be seen.

Image Strength

The Image Strength allows you the choose how much of your photo will be seen through your vintage texture. Fade photo by moving the slider left.

Image Enhance

Enhances the light and dark areas of your image making it stand out more

Texture Strength

Use the slider to adjust the opacity of the texture. Moving the slider right will darken the texture.

Overlay Textures / Borders

Overlay Thumbnails

Choose a grungey texture to overlay your image.
Change the opacity in the Adjust Tab.

Background Color

Change the background color surrounding the
border. Not available when a Vintage Scene Style
Preset is chosen.

Border Thumbnails

Choose a border style to be placed around your
image. Use the Adjust Tab to change how much of
the paper border is shown.

Saving

Adjusting the controls will give you a lot of power in order to get your own unique and custom look. After playing with the controls when you like what you have created go to the "File" menu and choose "Save" to save the image to your computer or "Save Preset" to save your unique preset. By saving a preset this will allow you to apply it to other photographs or to adjust it at a future date. To retreive your saved preset go to "Style" and look for it amongst the other presets.

Save Photo

Vintage Scene creations can be saved to to your computer by going to the "File" menu, then to "Save Photo" or use the "Save" icon on top next to get photo.

Save Preset

A preset is a recording of all attributes used to create your vintage photo. When a preset is saved it can be found on the "Vintage Scene" preset menu. Presets can be used at a later date and will allow you to apply the saved effect to a new photo and modify it.

Presets

Under the Style Tab you will find our different Preset Styles by clicking one of them you can switch between the three effect styles. When an effect style is chosen, preset thumbnails can be found below. By default the "VintageScene" presets are applied to the first photo. To change the appearance of the effect choose one of the thumbnails on the bottom or use the "Adjust" button to customize the preset settings.

Saving Presets

You can save your own custom preset by clicking on "FIle" button then choosing the "Save Preset" option from the menu.

Manage Presets

To delete a preset, use the blue edit button ( - ) found on the lower right corner of the presets panel. Delete individual presets by clicking on the red delete button ( x ).
